John Kirby Lusk passed away July 27, 2016 in the company of loved ones in Washougal, Wash. Kirby was born to John Henry Lusk and Signe Virginia Lusk December 16, 1949 in Eugene, Ore.
Kirby moved with his family to Medford where he spent his youth until graduating from Medford High School in 1968.
Kirby was a hard worker and a loyal employee. He acquired an accounting background at the University of Oregon and practiced in the field for many years. In retirement, he devoted much of his time to his true passion, gardening.
Kirby, myself, Walt Everett (deceased) and Gary Van Laningham (no idea where Gary is ?) had a band in the 9th grade at Hedrick...I had no talent on the guitar, Kirby could play the organ, Walt could sing and play base, Gary played the drums. We performed for two dances and then broke up the group...Beatlemania drove us out of the spotlight...I remember the day at school when Kirby got the bad news his father died in auto accident on the coast returning home from work...We all need to enjoy every day with family and friends as we get older !!
Kirby was one of my best friends. We played in band and orchestra together.
I knew his family well. I still play the drums I bought from his Dad. Kirby was a gentle soul. Always there to help a friend. He had the greatest laugh, always smiling, always spreading good vibes.
The world has lost a shinning light. I will always have a special place in my heart for Kirby.
I feel blessed to have known him. I will always remember the good times we had, and cherish the memory of my friend.
I was saddened to hear of Kirby's passing... I never hung out with Kirby since his interests were in music, other than mine.. He was a fellow team member of the 1967 / 1968 football team.. I also remember him as polite and having a good sense of humor.. My condolences to his family..
What a kind soul Kirby was! Gentle smile and all my memories of him are caring . My husband (from Roseburg) went to Boy's State with him and remembered him as a nice guy too. Tim's parents came to Medford and bought their only piano from Kirby's family business...such a small world.
Kirby...Wish I had known you better in this later life of ours...maybe you could have taught me something about gardening. Regret not remembering the band you were in. Oh to go back and see those performances! Our best to your family. We will miss you Kirby! Kay
I went to Hedrick, remember the band. Visited with Kirby when taking organ lessons at his dad's store. We have lost so many at such a young age. Remember to appreciate each day and to be thankful for each day we have with family and friends.

Kirby - I keep remembering him at Hoover, may still have a photo or two of football back then. Kirby was a good friend! Peace and Love, Kirby!
